For one of the largest ports in the United Kingdom, MacIvor Grant completed an extensive audit of Port Security based on the following remit:

• Study of port security expenditure in relation to the blend of technology and manpower currently in use.
• Evaluate costs in relation to the operational effectiveness of port security, including analysis of the financial impact of absenteeism though sickness, overtime payments and leave.
• Construction of a matrix of monies expended.
• Assess the viability of the use of a commercial security provider as an integral part or in support of the policing structure.
• The results of this audit led to a full restructuring of the port security thereby increasing efficiency and cutting costs.
